PROFESSIONAL LEARNING NETWORKS

“Learning is something the learner does,

not something the teacher does.”

Course Description

This course is designed to help you create your own individualized professional learning network (PLN). Connected teachers worldwide are creating and using these kinds of networks as tools for both their own professional growth and for online resource sharing. Our focus will be on how you can continue to improve your professional practice and model lifelong learning for your students using a variety of digital tools. Discover how to find the information you need and how to move from consumer to creator using online resources that allow you to contribute and collaborate with other educators anywhere, anytime.

Course Instructor

My name is Darlene Hubber.  I think I have earned the right to call myself a veteran teacher after more than 32 years experience in the classroom. After graduating from university with a Bachelor of Education degree with Great Distinction, I embarked on a career focused primarily on working with elementary school students in multi-grade settings. I began my journey into integrating technology into my teaching practice ten years ago when my class was part of a group selected to participate in a one to one laptop initiative funded by the provincial government. This is my third trip to the island as part of the IT for Dominica team.
